WMS 8th Grade Celebration Activities

April 17, 2018

In February, we updated students and families regarding the upcoming 8th grade activities. Now, in a few short weeks, we will be celebrating the end of your student’s middle school experience and the journey to high school.  We wanted to take a moment and share some of the key event details and updates regarding the activities that will take place in June as part of this year’s 8th grade celebration.

-Friday, June 1 (4-6:00 p.m.) 8th Grade Student Dance
-Thursday, June 8 (5:30 p.m.) 8th Grade Celebration Ceremony

Additional information will be shared regarding each event as we go through the next few weeks.  Both events promise to be special as your student finishes his or her middle school career, and we look forward to seeing as many students as possible at each.

Additionally, Washington Middle School values attendance, positive student behavior, and student achievement.  For your student to participate in the 8th Grade Celebration Ceremony, your student may not have more than one failing mark (F) in a core subject (Math, Language Arts/Reading, Science, AVID, or Social Studies.)  To be eligible to participate in the 8th Grade School Dance, students will need to meet the Washington Middle School Dance Policy Expectations. These will be shared with students at the start of the 6th grading period.

Parents/guardians will be updated regarding their student’s progress at the end of the 4th and 5th grading periods along with scheduled after-school study sessions to support students in improving grades. Final grades and student participation in the ceremony will be evaluated June 1, 2017.

We look forward to a great second semester at Washington Middle School. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
